How this is worked out
- Calendar difference walks months and days rather than dividing, so 31 January to 1 March is one month and one day, not 29.
- Every unit total is the whole gap expressed in that unit, not a remainder — 90 days is also 12.857 weeks.
- Months, quarters and years are marked approximate in the totals list because they have no fixed length.

Why does the calculator show two different answers?
Because both are right. The calendar answer walks the calendar — 15 January to 15 March is exactly two months. The total answer divides elapsed milliseconds — the same span is 59 days, because January and February are short. Neither is a rounding of the other.
Does the result include the end date?
No. The gap is measured from the first date up to but not including the second, which is what subtraction gives. If you need the end date counted — a hotel stay, a notice period — the inclusive date difference tool adds it back.
What happens across a daylight-saving change?
The calendar answer is unaffected, because it counts days rather than hours. The exact totals are not: a spring-forward day is 23 hours long, so a week containing one is 167 hours, and the page says which transitions the range crossed.
