When does the fiscal year start?
It depends who you are. The US federal government starts on 1 October, the UK government on 1 April, UK personal tax on 6 April, India and Japan on 1 April, Australia on 1 July. Pick the start month and the tool follows it.
Is FY2025 the year it starts or the year it ends?
Usually the year it ends — the US federal FY2025 runs from October 2024 — but not always; Australia writes it as 2024-25. The tool labels it both ways so there is no ambiguity.
