Countdown Timer
A countdown timer that runs in the tab
Set a duration or a target time and let it run, with a sound and a title flash when it finishes. Nothing is installed and nothing is uploaded — the timer is the page.
Questions people ask
The things that come up about countdown timers, answered plainly.
Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. Browsers throttle background timers, so the countdown is recomputed from the clock rather than decremented — a tab left in the background for an hour shows the right number the instant you return, not an hour's worth of missed ticks.
Will it still alarm if the tab is hidden?
The tab title updates and the sound plays when the browser allows it. Some browsers block audio in a background tab until you have interacted with the page, which starting the timer counts as.
